Star Anise & Plum Sticky Ribs
1 side baby back ribs
1 onion coursly chopped
2 whole star anise
1 bay leaf
6 whole peppercorns
1-2 scallions ( for garnish)
2tsp garlic powder
1/4tsp ground star anise
salt+pepper
1cup smokey BBq sauce
1cup plum sauce
1/2cup brown sugar
2tbs veg oil

- Place ribs,onion,whole star anise, bay leaf and peppercorns on a large
pot and add cold water to just cover the ribs. simmer gently for 30
minutes or until ribs are tender.
- remove ribs from pot and lay on a greased baking sheet. let cool
slightly.
- sprinkle ribs all over front and back with garlic powder and ground
star anise. sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- mix together BBQ sauce, plum sauce, brown sugar and vegetable oil.
brush on ribs front and back coating generously.
- Bake in a 375F oven for ten minutes or until the sauce starts to
carmelize and blister on the ribs. Garnish with finely diced scallions
serve!
